THE CHALLENGE, By Dr. Grant Kruhly, Sensei of Applied Samurai Wisdom

THE CHALLENGE

To really appreciate what the 7 vital keys I am sharing are, and what they do, it is important to first understand some of challenges we all face.  These acute challenges are fundamental to this age and culture and are becoming more intense with each passing month and year.  I’m going to refer to 3 things, (1) time, (2) event density, and (3) consciousness.  Allow me to explain.  Would you agree that we are all very, very busy?  Whether we are single, or parents, our daily agendas are packed with errands, responsibilities, multitasking at work, emails, calls, social life, and the list goes on and on.  In fact, it never ends, does it?  Most people don’t notice; they were born in it, and simply accept it without question.  Most of us have heard or read time management specialists who tell us that in today’s high tech world, we have to schedule everything, literally everything, even sex, or it just won’t happen.  This new millennium will almost certainly be worse in this regard, it certainly won’t be better.

So the first part of the challenge is the fact that our day is scheduled, and personal time is all but gone. There are exceptions of course, but for most people, they fit their existence into imposed schedules. Conformity has always been easier, so it is the norm.  The second part of the challenge concerns the tasks and goals of these schedules.  More than ever before, they define our lives and it is important to understand that, as directives, they are all future-based.  Then, we add the event density in our lives.  This refers to all of the information that comes at us from multiple sources, every day, all day, each demanding our attention.  Remember, each shift of attention is accompanied by emotional shifts as well.  Finally, it is important to understand where consciousness fits in.  Why?  Because our future-based task and goal agendas keep our minds in the future, so time speeds up, stress and imagination are engaged and we never catch up. Why?  Because the next task pulls us forward each time.  Thus our life, which only exits in the present, goes unnoticed.  Did you know that our brain’s ability to multitask is zero.  Yes, zero.  Science is quite clear on the subject, and has been for some years.  It all works like memory in a computer; we simply shut down once we reach memory capacity and saturation.  At that point, we have so little mental attention left to address our life; we may literally be unable to rise from our chairs. Yet the world where we make our living constantly increases the load. Actually, it is quite typical really; the System ignores all kinds of proven science, working tirelessly to keep old myths in place to control the masses.

To review then, our daily life is an endless round of tasks and goals (some our own, most someone else’s) called agendas, which controls all our time.  Even our down time is contingent on our schedule.  Our mind is thrust into the future and kept there by the agendas, so we miss the present moment and our lives. Time seems short, and we rush, rush, rush.  As new information is constantly impacting us every day, we have to constantly adjust our frame of mind, and emotion to accommodate it. Each shift requires our energy and drains us.    As Hobbit Bilbo Baggins said, the result is that we are “like butter spread thin over too much bread.”  We won’t even mention money right now.  Do you like living this way?  I don’t.

THE ANSWER

Since the System is in place and running with unstoppable momentum, we need to find a solution within ourselves.  Let me say that again, we need to find a solution within ourselves, not in some new software or some other fancy gimmick, and certainly not in some government nonsense, but from within our truly immense human capacity.  The great teacher Eckhart Tolle said that the answer is in the Power of Now.  That is totally true, and the 7 vital keys or “Dignities” as they are referred to in samurai culture, allow you to access the Power of Now, every day, all day, if you so wish.  I know I do. I the next post I will address the first of the 7.  I hope you will join in and send me your comments.  Let me know if you have any problems or concerns; I will do my best to help.  Also, please check out my YouTube videos of the 7 vital keys as well.  Additionally, please let your friends and contacts know of my blog at http://www.AppliedSamuraiWisdom.blogspot.com, I’d love to help them too and hear their input.  Thank you and I look forward to helping you thrive in the present moment.

Introducing Applied Samurai Wisdom by Dr. Grant Kruhly, Sensei

Introducing
APPLIED SAMURAI WISDOM

By Doctor Grant Kruhly, Sensei and Founder of Applied Samurai Wisdom

A BLOG of LIFE, PERSONAL MASTERY, and EMPOWERMENT in the NEW MILLINNEUM

Hello and welcome to my new blog to serve and help you find meaning, strength, peace, health, and to feel vital, happy and truly empowered.  I look forward to sharing a massive amount of highly relevant information with you, and to read your comments and questions.  Although the subject matter of meaning, life, and the enormous stresses affecting us all now, is not unique; my approach is.  Drawing on my extensive understanding, and experience from over 38 years of intense training and immersion in Samurai Martial Culture, combined with my second profession as a Wellness Specialist and Chiropractor; I intend to weave an interesting mix of time tested knowledge with scientific understanding.  The results will, I believe, be transformative and illuminating for your life in the New Millennium.

A LITTLE INTRO ABOUT MYSELF

This Christmas of 2011 will mark 39 full years of professional Martial Art training in the old classical Japanese crafts of Ju Jitsu and Sword.  I trained intensely in Yoshinkai Aikido, as taught by the founder Gozo Shioda, for 21 years. I taught it professionally for 10.  In 1998, I became the student of Master Yagyu Koichi, present Headmaster of the Yagyu School of Swordsmanship.  I had the enormous honor of receiving instruction from His teacher, the late Yagyu Nobuharu. I do not teach the Shinkage Ryu.

CHIROPRACTIC
At the age of 45, I entered Chiropractic College to become a Doctor.  I did so at the urging of several of my friends who knew of my association with many world class Doctors, such as George Goodheart. My martial training had presented me with several challenges, including a broken back at L5, 3 knee operations, a dislocated right shoulder, and cervical disc damage.  Chiropractic and mediation healed my back, shoulder, and neck.  My knees had to be operated on because the cartilage tore in half and the knees locked.   Thus, Chiropractic seemed a logical and congruent choice with being a life coach and Sensei. I graduated in 2006, but found that teaching is my real vocation and passion, and thus I have created this blog.  I closed my office in 2009 and presently I am developing a comprehensive personal development business.

MISSION STATEMENT

I have created Applied Samurai Wisdom as a vehicle to help lift people up above the techno matrix system of the New Millennium, so that they live a vibrant meaningful life, not a stressed out ordeal to the grave.  No one should live like that, that is not what life is for.  We are all here for a purpose, not to simply rush, rush, rush, till we are old, with our only contribution going to fuel government agencies and taxes.

JOIN ME IN DISCOVERY

I hope you will join me and by all means write me your thoughts and questions.  I love to help, that’s MY purpose.

Sincerely,
Dr. Grant Kruhly,
Sensei and Founder of Applied Samurai Wisdom
