VITAL KEY # 2
Let us get right into our next vital key, which is standing still. Here is an activity that occurs in our lives every day without the slightest consciousness. Remember, anytime we are unconscious we are missing our lives, like eating food without tasting it whatsoever. Although standing still may seem very insignificant, I would like to suggest it is not. Just as a stream of water is made of millions of drops, so our life is made of millions of moments. Three ants on the ground can be hard to see, ten thousand of them are not.
WHAT TO PAY ATTENTION TO
We want to notice our life as we live it. There are many ways to do that, and I want to challenge you to try something a little different. Pay attention to your surroundings via kinesthetic awareness. Kinesthetic awareness is your feeling sense. It involves your whole body. Normally we think of the five senses as our only way to connect to our world. I will go deeply into this later on, but for now, think of your entire body as an antenna. As you stand still, perhaps listening to someone or waiting in line, pay attention to how you feel, especially in your gut. Are you relaxed or tense? For now, just feel it without judgment. Always attend to your posture, be erect and infuse your stance with a feeling of dignity and quiet strength. With your head up, put some attention and feeling into the lower abdomen or Hara. Relax your shoulders and neck and become aware of your breath. Do not be concerned with how you’re breathing right now, just notice it and feel it. Once you have these points of focus down, you can experiment with expanding your peripheral attention until it is 360 degrees via your body antennae.
WHAT THIS MEANS TO YOU
Every time we fill our body with conscious awareness we awaken from the sleep of automated existence. Have you ever greeted someone with “good morning” and they answered you with “fine.” I’m sure you have, we all have. Why does that happen? People, with rare exception, are asleep, on automatic, with their minds playing old tapes over and over again. Later on I will explain how paradigms and neural nets control behavior and perception but for now our goal is empowered awareness through the body.
HOW THIS WORKS
To illustrate what I am trying to explain I want you to think of a clear, hollow, glass mannequin. Up in the head is a tape recorder on play mode. Next, I want you to imagine conscious awareness as colored water or gas. Initially you see a clear glass figure of a person with a tape recorder in the head. That represents total unconsciousness. Now put something in the right hand and color the hand red. The color in the hand means there is awareness of holding something. That in turn triggers the appropriate tape from the memory banks; yet the rest of the body is unconscious and empty. As another example, place the mannequin in a chair at a computer. You would see color in both hands, the tape recorder on, and the rest as empty space. This is the case for almost all humans all over the planet. At various times different areas of the body will have consciousness filling it, triggering the appropriate tapes in the head. The rest of the body is unaware and not available to experience life. Our goal is to fill the entire mannequin with color, to fill the whole body with conscious energy. This will switch the tape player from play to record. The mind will then be connected to real time instead of memory. That is a major level of mastery. From there even greater levels are available by expanding awareness beyond the body to the Field.
POSSIBLE OUTCOMES
As we activate more and more of our life with conscious energy, our various life situations will begin to change. Many times the changes will be subtle, but sometimes they may be very large. It is important to understand that the situation changes because we changed. The job isn’t different, we are different. That is the secret of life, it mirrors us. I intend to write more on that at a later date. Expect both satisfaction and dissatisfaction as mind begins to question and explore. You might notice more ease and peace, or you may feel agitated and restless. It all depends on where you are in your personal development. Whatever you feel, let it be without judgment or labels; that is critical. There is no right or wrong to awareness, only what is. Watch, feel, BE, and enjoy the journey as it unfolds. Whether walking or standing still, show up as a noble awake being engaged in life.
